Newbie with a couple questions
First time poster here. I am eagerly awaiting my JK Unlimited that should arrive in the next couple weeks. I have really enjoyed reading your forum and feel that I have learned a lot. I was considering the Rugged Ridge mirror relocation brackets. Has anyone used them? They seem like a good idea. I intend to paint my wheels black this summer. Is there any advantage to Matte or Gloss or is it strictly appearance preference? Thanks for any advice!
Welcome, here is a link that discusses a number of doors off mirror options:

I ended up going with a set of Harley mirrors.

Yep, lots of threads here on the RR relo's. Doors off, they work fine. Doors on, the passenger side is pretty much useless unless you lean into your passengers lap. The other common complaint is that the mirrors don't fit into the brackets all that well. (at least this was common back when I got mine, but i have not followed the threads in quite a while so it may have changed...)

I went with the Mopar Mirror Relo brackets and they seemed to work well. Same problem of passenger side use (or lack there of). I read somewhere the mopar and the RR are pretty much the same thing so if you want to see what its like, let me know, I'm only about 20 minutes from you - over in Reston.
I have the RR brackets. When I installed them, I opened the passenger door and adjusted the mirror as close to it as I could without the door swinging into it. I can see about 1.5 - 2 inches of the outer edge of my mirror out of the passenger side. I have limited visibility so I just got used to taking a glance over my shoulder. If you rarely have rear passengers, like me, you can remove the rear headrests. For me, it really helped overall visibility.
