Default Newbie Mod Ideas

Wanted some suggestions and advice on what to get/do over time with my new Jeep Wrangler Sport Unlimited. My husband is already talking about putting "meaner" tires on when they need to be replaced, rear light guards and a grill guard. Please mention average pricing with your suggestions!

It all kind of depends on what you want to do with said jeep. If it's gonna be a Daily Driver/pavement pounder there are some things you might do to it that you may not want to do to it if you were planning on it being an off-road monster. By "meaner" tires you probably mean bigger more off-road type tires which, depending on size, may require a lift or trimming of the fenders. These lifts can run from a budget boost of a few hundred bucks to a complete overhaul of the suspension system which can go easily into the thousands...

So tell everyone what your plans are for the jeep and then people can make some better suggestions for you

Also read the stickies at the top of this forum. They are very very helpful and very informative for new jeep owners like myself and you

It's gonna be used for daily driving for the most part, but we definitely want to see what we can do with it and find places to get it muddy! I joined this forum to learn what's near me and what other people do with their Jeeps. My husband is already talking about replacing his off road Nissan Exterra for a big manual Jeep lol.

Order a Quadratec catalog. (or just go to their website. In addition to all of the components to search through, down at the bottom left you will find a 'jeep build-ups' link. Click the JK and check out the various stages from stock to built.)

Open the threads stuck right to the top of this modified area. Lots of good info in them to help get you pointed the right way. or the wrong way. Or in some direction, at least.

Go down to JK Show & Tell. There are a bunch of threads with pics that are divided into various categories. Tire size, paint color, lift height, etc etc.

Go up to JK Write-Ups. There is an index at the top. You will find a bunch of how-to's on just about any component or mod you can think of.

Spend a few days (weeks?) browsing this one.

There are a million DIY things you can do... just live on the forums and you'll keep on finding them!! My personal recommendations are bedline and mesh the grille, or at least just put some mesh in there, cut the fenders and stubby the bumper... All DIY stuff you can do for little of nothing and will totally change the look of your rig!

this thread is a great resource https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-w...0-thread-8300/

These pics are my factory bumper mod and cut stock fenders...

Thanks! Everything on mine (except the wheels and tires) is DIY stuff I learned on the forums.. hehhe .... Speaking of wheels, that's a DIY thing you can do! You can plasti-dip or paint your stock wheels. That's one of the first things I did when mine was stock.... Totally changed it, here it is back in the good ole' days with painted wheels
