No BS about it. It's all fact. But, like I said earlier, the difference when used in automobile tires is so subtle, you will not see any benefit, except maybe slower to bleed down.
I've worked with aircraft tires for almost 40 years. When the regs changed and required dry nitrogen for tire servicing, I could see the difference, in service, and at tire/wheel teardown. I'm talking about tires with 150 to 260 psi in them.

FWIW, when I bought mine, the dealer made a BFD about it having nitrogen in the tires.
I dont notice any difference at all.

No, sorry . . I should have been clearer.

I did not mean to say these benefits do not occur with nitro, or that they are not used in other applications succesfully, as you point out, just that they were BS for your typical home automotive application. I wasn't referring to fleets or aircraft.

Actually (pushing my nerd glasses up my nose), even though the molecular weight of a Nitrogen molecule (N2 ~ 28) is lower than that of an Oxygen molecule (O2 ~ 32), because of the stronger covalent bonding between two Oxygen atoms, a Nitrogen molecule is larger than an Oxygen molecule. A nitrogen molecule has a radius of about 300 pm (pm = 10^-12 meters), while an oxygen molecule has a radius of about 292pm... so less than 3% difference... </nerd speak>

That being said... Nitrogen may have it's advantages, including getting to run green valve stem caps, but I think it's so inconvenient to do so that it's not worth it...

Id have to say Nitrogen in your tires is worthless if you own a Jeep. I mean how many times do you air down and fill up? Not worth it to me...

I have nitrogen in my Harley tires but will never put them in the Jeep! The reason that nitrogen is good for the road is that it stays at constant pressure with the area's of the country that get cool at night and hot during the day. If you are constantly airing down and re-inflating, then it is a waste of money.

my dealership wont stop putting nitrogen in. I bring it in for warranty work, they bump up my pressure. I bring it in for a recall, they bump it some more. I stop to say hi, they offer more......They really like to overinflate my trail grapplers. something about that tire makes them think it needs 45 psi........... had to start pulling over after leaving just to take em down. I dont want to upset the dealership as they are "mod friendly" for now...

That's why some high end sports car makers put nitrogen in their cars tires. Can't remember which one but one of the crazy ones, like Pagani.

HOG WASH!!! Inflate your tires properly and you'd get that 2mpg anyway.
