Default Non-rubi transfer case

My case is stock 2007 sahara auto, and wondered if it would be enough to run to my Dana 60s for off roading? Would I really struggle and is an upgrade to something like an atlas a must?

The t-case ratio in your sahara 2.72-1. With an A/T, this is a great ratio except for the full time rock crawler. The A/T will help you get lower gearing due to torque multiplication and the overall ratio is great in general off road use. For a rock guy the 4-1 Rubi case is a great choice but that is frequently too low for the average trail guy. I don't see many issues with overall case strength. Durability has not been an issue.

Personally, I love an Atlas for the twin stick capability. Once you learn how to use them and it becomes part of your driving style, going back to a standard transfer case is no fun. The 4 speed case is a great choice for the guy that wheels in many types of terrain. You can find a gear for any area. This is not as necessary with an A/T as it is with a manual.

if you want to rock crawl why not add a Rubicrawler. You have an auto, so it should work great, and you get to keep your stock t-case ratio for the vast majority of trails.

It is a reduction box that replaces the tailshaft housing on your automatic transmission. You retain your standard length driveshaft and get an extra set of gears. While best on a Rubicon as it is a 2.72 ratio, it still works well with a non rubi. It is normally used as an alternate ratio. In a Rubi, you can use the standard Rubi 4-1, the Rubi crawler 2.72-1 or stack them for 10.88 combined ratio. With the std t-case you'll only be stacking the ratios (for 7.39-1) as both boxes are the same.

Is there a similar option for a non-rubi 6 spd manual? This looks like an excellent way to go and a cheaper route than swapping out the entire tcase.

Klune and Black Box both make a similar product but they are an addition that goes between the trans and t-case, not a part that replaces a part of an auto trans.
