To be or not to be....
Buncha guys with Jeep-dysmorphic disorder around here, I tell ya. Guys with these big tall Jeeps only want to go bigger and taller.
I stand by my decision to go with the 2.5"/33" combo. It's still wickedly functional, lots of room for flex, cheaper tires, and it maintained good power and economy with the stock 3.73.
Together with the AEV 2.5" lift, I gained about 4.25" of total rise out of the deal over stock. It completely changed the look, feel, and driveability. In fact, it's much, MUCH improved over the stock Sport suspension....something I wish I had done to the Jeep the day I bought it.

If I may put the aforementioned posts and ideas into perspective...go with 35's, which look great (and appropriate) with a 2.5" lift. The JK is a wider vehicle than the TJ (which looks great with 33's). While 33's are certainly a step up from the OEM tires for the JK, 35's are the natural fit for the JK and certainly have their benefits offroading, etc.. There are many of us on the forum that had 33's once upon a time and decided to upgrade to 35's. At the end of the day, you need to be happy with your choice, so hope you figure it out and enjoy our decision. Good luck!

I got a great deal on 33s with wheels. Now I can afford a lift soon because I didn't break the bank, I still have great tires and the right backspacing. Yes I would go with 34s right now if I could (to avoid breakage and wear) but if you buy 33s the right way it's a great middle step for those of us who are thrifty.
IMO if 35"s are even a thought in your mind just get them. You'll love the look of the bigger tire and with 3.73's and a ProCal that should be bearable. I have a 4" lift with 35"s and 3.21s and although its not my DD I can deal just fine with it especially since I, still getting 18 mpg hwy.
