I put a bead of silicone around the lip of the nutzert before i inserted into the hole. It sealed it up great and had no issues with it spinning but i heard from a paint and body guy thet silicone is bad on paint. He said it had a acid or something like that in it that would eventually cause the paint to crackand peel. Maybe just hit the bare metal with some Rustoleum and call it a day!

It makes sense the silicone needs air to cure. I really hate the smell of it too. Getting that stuff on your hands is fun because it resists water. I should probably look up the contents of the chemical to see if it reacts to paint. I had to drill a hole in my hood and I sealed it up with RTV silicone hopefully it won't kill my paint on my hood.
