Offset and Backspace: How do they relate?

If its a 17x8, +6mm offset/4.75BS it should fit. I say should because this doesn't tell me what type of brake clearance it has. Most aluminum wheels won't have any issues fitting, if the wheel is steel you might have trouble with them clearing the brakes.

First of all great thread matt, very interesting post and helpful.
I myself need to order my wheels soon and I am stuck and unsure between two. The first is Cragar's Soft 8 w/ +13 offset and 5" backspacing and the other is a Pro Comp Xtreme Rock Crawler Series 52 w/ -6mm offset and 4.250" backspacing...both are 16x8. Of what i am reading in this post, both of the backspaces are good enough for fit on my 07 JK unlimited. I was wondering if this is true and if there is a preferred preference. I have 285/75/16 cooper discoverer stt's sitting in my garage to mount on these once i decide one what to order.

Both wheel models will work on the JK with tire size 285/75-16. The difference is that the ProComp wheels are going to stick out further than the Soft 8's.

Would an 18x9 6x5.5 wheel with a 4.75 offset and -6 backspace and a C.B. of 108.4 fit appropriately on 35 inch wheels with 3.5 inch lift? Sheesh it took me 5 minutes just to make sure the numbers were pasted right. Lol thanks everyone.

The JK uses the 5-5 (5-127mm) bolt pattern so unless you are running spacer adapters (not recommended) these wheels will not fit. Dimensions wise though, the 18x9 ET-6 will work on the JK and clear 35" tall tires.

They do make a 5x5 with a 5.00 back space and 0mm offset. Im told these will fit but will stick out an 1.5 to 2 past the stock fender. Just wondering now if im going to be hitting the doors with road debris by having them stick out that much.

The tires on my LJ stick out about 2" beyond the fenders and they throw plenty of gunk up on my jeep. My jeep seems likes it.
Now if I can only teach it how to shake itself off....
