Default Ome Basic lift, making it better?

Hi all.
I have been lurking on this board since last September when I got my 2008 Unlimited Rubicon. I have finally decided to get busy and get to some mods. I recently bought 35" procomp xtreme M/Ts and 9005 wheels at a show in San Mateo last week and now I am considering a lift. With regards to the lift I want it tall enough to fit 35s without rubbing but would like to keep the CG low as this vehicle is a DD. Based upon what I have been reading the OME kit might be the way to go. I plan on getting coils (618,619), shocks and track bars such as the kit offered by Northridge. I have ann ARB front bumper ready to go on and will be adding a winch. I'm also curious would it be worthwhile getting longer sway bar links in the rear and moving the rear ones to the front. Complete kits usually seem to do that. How about bump stops? Will I need front and rear (Teraflex)? Would I need both upper and lower rears (Teraflex)? I don't want any rubbing and am not looking at fender trimming or tube fenders. Can't wait to get this thing going!! Thanks for the help

If you would like to make the kit more complete we can do front and rear sway bar links and bumpstops and I can put a package deal together for you.

Give me a call.

I just purchased an OME with FT adj. track bars front and rear used from this forum.

David from Northridge helped me out a ton and I just ordered Teraflex bump stops front and rear and a Currie rock jock rear sway bar link form Northiridge to complete the kit.

David's knowledge and customer service are top notch

I will post pics in a week or two when everything comes in and I have time to install it.

A quick 'search' up top will show plenty of OME threads that will answer all your questions in more detail. But...

With 35's, you will rub. Disconnected, you will rub more, so get the bumpstops. (one set front and rear)

Get the new rear links and move the stocks up front. (I don't have a Rubi, but I assume the rears will work up front with the rubi-disco?)

Consider getting front upper and/or lower Control Arms.

That Long Travel kit is a good deal. Wish it had been available when I started modding.

I am running the teraflex 3" with OME LT shocks. That lift is available in a bunch of forms from almost nothing all the way to fully equipped.

Good points about the OME LT kit from Northridge. By the time I would add links, and bumpstops to the basic kit, I am only a few hundred bucks from the LT kit. At the cost of the OME LT kit, I would also be in the price range of the Black Diamond 3" kit with their xtreme terrain swivel links( both front and rear lowers control arms) using the OME LT shocks. The advantages I see in the OME LT kit by Northridge would be rear track bar and replacement brakelines. Black diamond would be better in having lower rear control arms plus the unique dsign of the arms, not that I am sure they are any better. I guess if I continue this logical thought process I will soon be riding on 37 inch tires with a long arm kit and new drive shafts. So anyway any comments on the Black Diamond kit with OME LT shocks and xtreme links vs the Northridge OME LT kit?

I cannot say that I know much about black diamond products, but I do know that superlift makes them. In my experience superlift coils are always very stiff. The superlift coils that were on my TJ were think, stiff, and rough riding. I cannot say that I think matching stiff coils with ome shocks. Seems pointless. But I could be wrong, and my experience may be the exception. If you can afford long arms... get the FT or teraflex and use the OME LT shocks. That would be awesome. If you are staying short arm... it depends on your budget. I think the FT ultimate kit with the OME LT would be super nice. I got the Teraflex 3" kit, and it is every bit as beefy as they say. I added some JKS Trackarms and still need to get the other 4 flexarms but I really like it. Very complete. The OME HD springs and Clayton arms or Currie arms would be bad ass too. I think there are so many strong, complete, great riding lifts out there it all comes down to what you want and who do you trust? Teraflex is very active on this site. They are known to stand behind their product 100% too. Whatever yot buy, use David at Northridge4x4!!! His customer service is absolutely amazing. Good luck, and don't forget to show us what you decide!!!
