So I bought the kit off of north ridge 4x4 and got in 2 days. Pretty impressive. My question is. What is the tapered bolt for. Maybe I'm over thinking it or something but I'm really confused. Also, is the relocation kit necessary. I did some searching but the only thing I found out about the tapered bolt is that it might be for a TJ.

Edit: also why can't you just use the stock mounting location

The relocation bracket isn't necessary but is cheap insurance that you won't smash your steering stabilizer while off roading, especially rock crawling. My teraflex s.s. came with a lot of extra hardware for different applications, maybe that's what your tapered bolt is for?

The tapered bolt replaces the axle side track bar bolt, and that's where the one side of the SS will mount to.
