Default One more lift thread...

Hey all!

Well, it's tax season again so that means it's time to blow some money! looking to get high before the summer and would like some suggestions/recommendations on lifts.

my budget is around $400-$500 and I'm looking to get her up 2.5". my only mods so far have been cosmetic except for the stubby rampage front bumper.

Keep in mind- this is my DD and I do minimal wheeling. Once a week I drive on the beach to go fishing and once in a while (when I find some or the cops aren't looking) I hit a trail. nothing crazy.

I looked at a rough country 2.5 coil lift with shocks but haven't heard the greatest reviews.

I'm halfway handy with a wrench and have some buddies who are more than willing to help if beer is involved so I will be doing this in a driveway.

any help is appreciated!!!

**I'd prefer coils and shocks over spacers**

Since this is your 3rd post and you're looking at a Rough Country Lift it's clearly obvious that you haven't done any research on your own. I know it's hard, but there is a sticky up top with suggestions on picking which lift is right for you.

This question is asked daily on the forum, there are thousands of posts you can look up, good luck and welcome to the forum!

With that budget and use, no need for new coils, just get a spacer lift. Teraflex 2.5", maybe? It will include the extra components you want, including shock extensions. Then later when you have done more research, (and have a bigger budget?), sell the BB and get a decent coil lift.

If you want to start with coils on a budget, a popular option would be something like the RK 2.5" stock mod, then start adding components when you can afford them.

If you want to get high before summer, take a handful of naproxen with a couple beers.

Sorry I couldn't resist

I would do it first, do it right so I would wait for better budget and get the decent kit.

Check those threads here and sure you will get the best idea. A buddy here almost on the same boat as yours with his '08 JK and recently installed a Pro Comp leveling kit and he's very satisfied, he got this one:

I run a 2" AEV spacer kit and couldn't be happier with it. Comes in under budget, rides like stock, and allows room for larger tires. I'm running 285/70R17 Duratracs on the stock rims.

Have to stress what others have said, suspension is one of the areas that you really don't want to cut corners.

With a $500 cap I would suggest piecing together a lift using quality components as opposed to going down the Rough Country road. Less than $500 can get you a quality set of 2.5" coils, adjustable front track bar and brake line brackets.

Won't be perfect, but is everything that you NEED for a moderate lift. When additional funds become available in the future you can look at correcting the caster with new LCA's or drop brackets.
