I like the offroad evo tire carrier, but can't see spending $1000 on just a tire carrier. Now im looking at the crawler conceptz body mounted tire carrier, for the price, its hard to beat, and it will hold my 42" irok
can you really fit a 42 on that tire carrier?

Default Teraflex HD hinge and tire carrier

The whole welds breaking thing someone posted back on the 3rd page I think is not accurate. The HD hinge actually prevents the welds from breaking. You don't want to put the tire carrier on the tail gate with out the HD hinge. What the hinge does is take the weight off the tailgate and put it on the side frame where it belongs.

The welds break on the stock hinge set up, which carries the load of the tire actually on the spot welds of the tail gate. If you open your tail gate, look at the little round dimples close to the hinge. Those are actually welds and is what breaks on the tail gates. With the HD hinge installed, i've not heard of a single valid case of a broken weld. Mine has been awesome.

There has been at least one case of a broken weld on the TF carrier, I've seen a pictures of it. How many others cracked, I don't know and it wasn't something that I looked into if there were more problems.

I am running the TF carrier and could not be happier. Solid.

Here's a pic of High Rock bumper / carrier. The spindle is welded from the bottom of the bumper to the top with a brace and as said earlier, has serviceable bearing races (2) held in place with a axel nut cotter pin. Had mine for 4 years now and zero issues.

The early TF carriers had crack issues where the plate with pressed studs met with the cylindrical slide. The hinge is not in question, just the adjustable sliding tire carrier. I believe TF added a gusset to distribute stress.
