Optima Battery?
I’m going to be adding a winch to my Jeep and was wondering what type of Optima battery I should get.
Should it be red or yellow?
What model#?
What type of post?
Thanks for the help,
-Freeman

go with the yellow top. IT IS AMAZING. i had only one on my yj had it for years never died once. hell i rolled my jeep and had to winch with the engine off. battery was 5 plus years old. no problem did the job then cranked right over. it is amazing
I was going to go with the yellow top per the other threads on this subject but if you go to the Optima website they only list the red top application for the Jeep JK. If anyone can post the part number for the yellow top that fits our application that will be the one I will get.

I don't know much about it but I have a yellow top, mostly because I have a yellow jk, and I've spent hours with the lights and radio on at camp sites and working around the house and never had any power issues.

I looked into this. The yellow top is the way to go if you are set on an Optima. The D34 is the model to get.
I opted for a diehard premium for $200 which has a better warranty (4 year outright replacement) and 100 months pro rated and more CCA (880). It is a Sears branded version of the Odessy.

To the OP: Optima has been having major issues the past few years with their batteries. Not worth the price charged IMO compared to the better options out there. You can do a search here for more info on that (or just about any off-road forum for that matter.)
