Your fan should be audible inside the Jeep if the engine temp is getting hot while going slow. Mine is pretty loud when on the high speed setting.

Can you hear your fan running when this condition occurs?

Some time the tranny being so hot heats up the engine as well. Get the tranny cooler that should eliminate any over heating paased to the engine. If engine still heating up after tranny cooler check your radiator termostat, water pump.

But I think Tranny cooler woud get the kob done.

Don't know what they mean by the fan "may be going out"

While there may be other issues, your vehicle will overheat at low speeds in hot weather if the radiator fan does not work.

So....does your fan work? You can easily tell if the fan is working. Let it idle long enough on a hot day, it should kick on. Also runs when you have the AC or defrost on. There is a low and high speed. Before your temp guage is getting to 3/4 (if that is what your seeing) the fan should be running at high speed.

As far as the tranny, if it shifts okay, the fluid is full and not burned, and you don't have 12k or more on the last fluid change, not sure what they want to service.

But I would put a tranny cooler on (or have someone do it) if your going to crawl in 90+ weather. Cheap insurance to avoid a lot bigger bill (or possible fire). The autos should have come with a real tranny cooler in the first place.

Sounds like two different issues....engine coolant temp and tranny temp?

Also, if you were playing in mud....as stated before make sure the radiator is clear of it.

It's best to shift into 4 lo almost as soon as you leave the pavement. The JK doesn't like low speeds up and down hills in 2x or 4 hi.

X2. The 231/241J's do not like to spend a lot of time in 4-hi.
