Question OX cable selected Lockers...?

Any inputs on running OX lockers in front and rear?

no electrical wiring or air compressors or leaking hoses.

who's got them, how do you like them...?

Thanks for your input

My last Jeep was a 1999 TJ Sahara and I installed an OX locker in the rear. My thoughts on picking the OX over the ARB was no air, no switches, just a simple cable engagement and it's cheaper than the ARB.

Boy was i wrong. I hated that locker and it's one of the reasons I was happy to see a Jeep i LOVED go away. Even on the day I sold it, the locker would not engage because the cable was out of adjustment...again. You have very little adjustment at the interior shifter. You need to pull the diff cover to adjust the cable once the shifter is out of adjustment. I was adjusting it all the time. Nearly every time I needed it, i had to work on it.

I would go with the Auburn electric or the ARB. My preference would be the Auburn. Whatever you do, stay away from the OX.

Oh..one more thing. The install is much harder with the OX. It's a pain getting the cable adjusted just right and it took HOURS to get it right. Even when it works, the locker clanks and bangs on dry pavement or the slickrock of Moab, UT.

I HATE OX....HATE IT!!

I would also like to know. Also, where is the best place to mount the cables so they are not in the way but are still accessible when needed?

Quoted for the truth. I had the same issue with OX on my TJ.

They are a royal PITA. like said above, they have to be adjusted ALL the time. I ended up converting mine over to work with air. Now you can actully buy air activated OX lockers though. I like them more than ARB because they are bullet proof. I have had to rebuild way to many ARB's in my time. Although the new ARB design is pretty nice, hopefully it dosent have any issues.

I had one more suggestion. How about just purchasing the Rubicon D44 axle with the locker and selling your axle. If i remember, the complete axle, brakes and all was around 1200 bucks for the rear and 1400 for the front.

By the time you pay labor and parts, you will be at the same amount. You could buy rubi axles brand new, then sell your axle for a few hundred and do the install yourself in a few hours.

Here it is on Quadratec.com for 1399.00, but I have seen it for about 1200. I think your local dealer will sell it to you for a deal if you work them. They don't like to lose a sale to the internet.

look in the "for sale" section... there must be 20 pages of D30s complete for sale....
i thought about that too, but when i put a new axle up front, it will be a monster.
so, i'm just looking into something for now.
