Default Painted hardtop?

As anyone had their JK hardtop painted to match the color of their jeep? The new ones loom pretty nice with the hard top in color. Just wondering how much it cost if anyone has considered this or got it done.

I haven't painted mine yet.. But really want to. I've seen write ups on bedlining (rattle canned).. But I'd rather color match (steel blue) mine. I have a gun and have sprayed my old rigs, but don't know much I would need for the top alone since I'm not a professional painter. I'm not interested in paying anyone, as I think I may be able to do this myself.. I'd encourage u to do the same.. Always a cool feeling when u step back and look at ur project and say "yup- I did that" lol and if it looks crappy... Have a few beers till it looks better.

Yeah I spray my guns too and some parts of my rigs. But I went to maako today to get a quote. They priced it at 450 which is pretty cheap. They said it wouldn't be completely smooth like the rest because of that semi textured surface the Hardtops have, but they would get it close enough to not notice a difference. I plan on having it done through them. I will post pictures later. Have to get wheels first!

$450!!!! Damn.. And that includes the material? Clear coat or not... I may just Take this route myself... I hear people downtalk matching tops cause they worry about scratches... I personally don't care about scratches as I have some on my fenders.. I just think it would look better in the same color as the jeep. I'd love to see pix when ur done.

I think the painted hardtops make them look more like an SUV type than a Jeep. Just my opinion.

I have nothing against SUVs, lol. I've had XJs and ZJs. I'm still a huge fan of the xj. And if my sahara looks like an SUV it won't bother me. I know it's still very capable and will be topless every summer anyway. :-)
