Default painting heat shields?

I recently chopped my fenders and I have a little of the heat shield showing in the front. I was thinking about painting over them with black when I do the parts of the body that are showing. Anyone think there would be a problem doing this?

Probably not a great idea. Depending on how much of it you paint you may cause some heat problems. Just like using mirrors to focus sunlight, the heat shields are reflective for a reason. Painting it black will greatly reduce it effectiveness. This is just my opinion, but I wouldnt do it.

that's what I was thinking...being black it would absorb more heat rather than reflect it. that's why I asked to get a second opinion.

Ya. I trimmed the liner already, but didn't take my time. Cut off a little to much. Oh well. Still serves the intended purpose, no more wheel rub, and it doesn't look bad. I'm just being anal and wanting everything showing to be black.
