Default Painting inside of a Freedom Hardtop

My 4dr came with only a ragtop, which I like alot and drive JK topless whenever I can. But, I live in the Pacific NW and wanted a hard top, so I got a very nice one used for darn good price. Of course, they are white on the inside, which I guess the intent is to make the interior "brighter" with a white reflective surface. Of course, it just looks darn funky with my Detenator Yellow/Black JK. So the question is, do you ever paint the inside flat black to match the other black plastic/metal parts, or just live with the white and say it's no big deal. I would appreciate you comments as to what if anything you think about this. Thanks

If you look at some of the posts on here about insulating the hardtop, you will see that some have used spray on bed liner that is black. It's really a matter of personal opinion.

Plenty of threads on this. 6 or 8 cans of Duplicolor spray paint from any local autoparts store will get you going.

If you go the bedliner route plan on leaving the top off the jeep for a week or 2. I used the stuff (herculiner) on the bed of my utv and the garage smelled like plastic and solvent for weeks.

I'd have to agree with that. Won't be as bad if the weather is nice and you can have the windows down. But driving with windows up in the winter, it would be better to let it air out for a while first.

I recently painted the inside of mine. I was going to use the bedliner, but then I saw another thread where a guy used regular black spray paint designed for plastics. I figured that made more sense because the interior of the top is already textured. Turned out really well. The only problem was the smell, which was really brought out when the Jeep was closed up in the heat. Now that's it's cold, there's no smell whatsoever.

I really, really wish you had NOT made this comment ! In one short thread read it has gone from "ä thought never imagined" to a wish list "gotta have Need", right up there with beadlocks and 40"tires. I can see it now.......the interior of my new hard top lookin'like the mallways at the Venetian in Las Vegas, all bright and cheery with bright summer skies as an antidote to all our infinitely long gray winters !! Really, seriously now......all kidding aside....in all fairness........can I send you the bill for that upgrade?? after all it will be YOUR fault !!
