Default painting supsension components

Hey just curious what you guys have used to protect your suspension components? I'm starting to get a lot of surface rust and think since the weather is getting nice i'll jump down there and tackle that project.

Joe @ Teraflex suggested hammerite paint to me a while back. You should be able to get it at Home Cheapot or Blowes.

cool, i'll have to look around here for that undercoating. How much dismantling did you guys have to do to paint the components, i jumped under there yesterday and i think i might be able to get most of it by just removing the tires?

I am going to be using black hammerite on my JK this summer. The salt destroyed the underneath over winter, mine is an 07 build so has some pretty major rust at the minute
Shouldn't be too dull as I am also putting on a bunch of AEV things at the same time!

I ususlly buy WD-40 by the half gallon and spray the susp. and undercarrage with it; seems to work pretty good. It seems to allow grime and mud to "bead" off.

Is it even necessary to remove the tires to spray paint a few things under my Jeep? My coil springs, and some areas on the axle and suspension are a bit rusty. I just want to make it look nice if I decide to get a stubby bumper. Is there any areas that I should avoid specifically...where the paint might affect the components? I don't plan on going too crazy with it though, just a touch up.
