Right on, that's a good overveiw of everything.

I am about ready to pull out the old CC and buy all three part to be honest! I have a bonus coming in July and could pay it off then. 4WD Hardware has good deals and Bryan says he does package deals, so maybe getting everything would be best!

Wouldn't you thin that doing CAI, Exhaust, and Superchips would be a best result in power/MPG?

I have 3.21 gears (GRRRR) and wonder how it will drive with increases power and my gears if I go to a 33 tire. I was thinking I would have to regear, but maybe 33's would be ok with doing all three of these performance changes? Thoughts? (Stupid 3.21 gears.. but super expensive to regear IMO)

I have the 3.21's and 33" Nitto's on 17" rims.... My friend has the same autmatic jeep with the stock 18"s and the FIPK intake system....

He barly beats me in a drag and at offroad speeds nothing is different. Gas mileage is the only thing that he beats me on.

all that being said, superchips would make up the difference and unless your going to 35-37" tires no need to change gears.

Well that good news, makes it easier to put money into this stuff knowing I can skip the gears. I would be doing 33's on 17" wheels too.

I am not completely sold on the intake myself, btu exhaust really does give a better sound. I did listen to some on a post here to be certain I didn't get the rice burneer sound!

$300 isn't too much and will give power, so I may just jump on the superchip deal 4Wdrive is running
I am also a 'newbie' to Jeeps, but have always done performance upgrades on my previous rigs, and what I did on my JK was AEM cold air, MagnaFlow cat-back, e3 plugs and then the Superchips. I did the CAI & Exhaust a couple of months before the e3's and Superchips - after you install the first two you need to dissconnect the battery for approx 30 minutes; then reconnect and drive for approx 10 miles to allow the computer to re-configure with the new air/exhaust, etc.
I do agree the Superchips was the crowning event to better throttle response, power and economy and also allows you to change for bigger wheels/tires and because I wheel at slow speeds in hot weather I programmed it to turn the fan on at a lower temp - good luck, hope this helps.

Yea, I am planning on putting some 33's on my stock 17's too once I wear out these stock tires...From everything that I have read not too much power will be zapped from your engine running 33's. Seems like it starts to exponentially decrease power and efficiency once you hit 35's and bigger. Pretty sure you can run 33's without a lift, you may need wheel spacers depending on tire width. So with all the performance upgrades and 33's you should be in good shape for a while so you can save up some money for new gears, lift, bigger tires, bumpers, winch, Dana 44 front, etc. etc.

I personally chose to go performance upgrades first because its my daily driver and I will benefit more over the long run from the increase in power, torque, and MPG. After I get all the mods for performance I want then I can start working on its off road capabilities!

I installed the MBRP exhaust and put in a "Drop-in" $50.00 K & N filter and saw a significant amount of difference in power (significant =if you can notice it within the first few miles of driving).

You may also want to take a look at the thread linked below (Any regrets on parts). There's a decent number of people saying to stay away from the Gibson Exhaust.
For those of you that don't think the C.A.I. is worth it, or does anything, take a plastic drinking straw and put it in your mouth, now take a deep breath from it...This is your stock air inlet. Now, do the same with a paper towel roll....C.A.I. Plain and simple. More air in means more power out. I won't vouch for every C.A.I. out or even drop a brand name even though I'm running a particular one myself, but it should be in the top 3 if you're looking for power and fuel efficiency, along with the exhaust and tuner that you're looking at. I also agree that the tuner is the best First upgrade, particularly since it's so versatile. Not only can you add power, but you can also account for changes in gears/tires, as well as read and clear trouble codes, none of which you can do with the C.A.I. or exhaust. I ran 35's on my TJ for years without a tuner since they didn't have one for the 2.5L (yeah, 35's on a 4-banger) and regretted it every time I passed a cop since I had to "guesstimate" my actual speed. TruckCustomizers has the Superchips tuner for $295 + free shipping and I did a Google search for coupons for them and got an extra $10 off last week.

Just be aware with the Superchips, as with many of these 'saddle' tuners, to take your settings back to stock before you take your rig into a dealer. Once the Superchips reads your car it will only work on that car and original setting, if the dealer 'upgrades' the stock setting it can wipe out your Superchip's setting, but if you take it back to stock and then the dealer upgrades - no worries.

If you have 3.21 gears and you add 33's you'll be fine through town and mild offroading but you're going to notice a nice loss of power on the highway, especially on inclines or if its windy out.
