Perm removal of rear tailgate
Looking for some insight on this. I wanna remove my tailgate and make a horizontal spare mount. Was more curious about the dome light staying on and any tips to remove the gate itself so it's easier to reinstall if needed. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

I used to run without a tailgate and had my spare in the back. Once you unplug the wires from inside the tailgate the dome light will not kick on. To remove it is 6 torx bolts and it easier with a friend but i used my spare tire to hold up the other end while i unbolted it. And for reinstalling it was just as easy. There should be some paint marks you can line back up for a close fit.
