Metal tubed CAIs are the loudest as they tend to reverberate sound more. They are also the least efficient as they introduce more engine bay heat into the the intake. Best bets are a poly based CAI tube, a simple performance drop in or a snorkel.

im getting and finding so many different brands/ kinds thrown at me i know for now i dont want a snorkal on my jk.

i just want a aftermarket intake that will cover the engine whine and sound good with my mbrp, and that is easy to maintain i dont want to buy more stuff to clean the dam thing, so maybe a soap and water wash one would best fit my needs.

so would it be safe to assume that i can just pick anyone that is on the market or are anyone or two? good to stay far awey from?

thanks for all the replys so far i really only want to buy one of these things so i want to make sure i do my homework.

makes sence, i often wondered about that. is the efficientcy lower then stock then?

i ask about loud cuz i have gotten so used to my exhaust that i find my self focusing on the engine whine now, normal i know but irratating

I have the Banks. Its a clean, almost stock looking install. The housing helps to reduce heat and I think contributes to the amazing sound. Its louder when you get on it than some exhausts I have had! I love it. No significant changes in fuel mileage but it does seem to have a bit more pickup at midrange - not necessarily take off. So passing, merging, entering the interstate...all seem improved.

Have to totally agree! CAI's sounds great...but are a big issue with water and love to suck in warm engine temps on very hot days. Love my snorkel don't have to worry about deep water/mud crossings and hydrolocking and I find the snorkel draws in much cooler air.
