Since I just use my compressor to fill tires, Id have to open the hood to hook up the hose, I decided to strip everything out of the ARB harness but what I needed to run the compressor. Then i installed a small rocker switch in the mounting plate under the hood. Of course this wont work that great if you are running hardlines to remote chucks or a tank. I did not go that route so keeping it simple worked for me.

thank you for all of the replies

i think we're going to try and keep it really simple and mount them to that separate panel to the right of the steering column and then down like 6-8 inches

it seems to be fully independent of the other panels around it, which would make for a much easier install as you could theoretically remove that panel to do the cutouts on the workbench

next Wednesday is the big day...with so many things to do i think it will spend the rest of the week in the shop...

remove old axles and drive shafts...install new axles and drive shafts

transfer rotors and calipers off of old axles...install on new axles
install ARB compressor and wiring, run line to each locker

mount new tires to new rims, went with Goodyear MTR/K's 37" x 12.5" x 17, to be mounted on a set of Pro Comp Series 98's in 17" with the flat black finish

so pretty much everything from the tires on up to just before the transfer case will be all new (minus the re-usable stuff like the rotors and calipers etc.

anybody in the New England area and want to buy some lightly used D30 and D44 with 3:21 and no lockers?

There have been a couple rear D35 threads in the last week. I didn't notice where they were located, but if you run across either thread you might touch base with them about unloading your rear axle.

As for the exact location I'm not an expert but I can tell you the higher rather than lower and in line of sight is best I at first located mine on the right side of a SPOD. And found it to be a stretch when I wanted to actuate them. Another example is the factory location down low and hidden by the steering wheel, I guess you can get used to it but fumbling for it and then looking down to insure engagement takes time and ones eyes off the trail. I made the compressor switch one color (green) and the 2 lockers different colors ( rear-yellow, front red) so just a glimpse gets a very quick update on what's on. Just my .02 cents.

I used the similar panel on my '07 for the locker switches. View is a bit hidden by the steering wheel, but it works. Once I installed an sPOD, I replaced that panel, restoring the original look. Another advantage of the sPod: Easier to install backlit switches with custom labeling (though that can be done on the steering wheel panel with more detailed cutting involved), and you can add an oil pressure (or air pressure, should you prefer) gauge. You just need to ensure you order the correct sPOD control panel (they make a number of different configurations--with and without dual lights, and with and without a gauge opening).
