Just let it get a few quarts low on oil, and it should start tapping like a diesel.
Sorry, I just couldn't resist.
Maybe a cherry bomb exhaust or something like that?

Take a trip over to Europe, buy a CRD Wrangler & ship it home.

On a serious note, probably a different muffler or adding a resonator can change the exhaust note (Magnaflow 40's supposed to give a deep, meaty note). Don't have any ideas on that low-down induction growl of the deisel though. Alot of people that install CAIs get a distinct throttle-body whistle which sounds similar to the low-pressure turbocharger on the Wrangler CRDs we have over here.

Swap out the muffler but you'll never get close to making a 3.8L V6 sound like a diesel. You can't change the Jeep so try changing other things to make it sound/feel more like home... Hang a few spanners of differant sizes underneath the Jeep where they will hit on the exhaust while your driving. Get some really fine powder and put it in your ventilation ducts to simulate the bull dust when you turn the fan on, and keep it on heat all the time. Lastly, run the tyres at really high PSI to enhance the feel of every bump in the road and you should feel right at home.

That's nearly the dumbest thing I've ever seen.
