Hopefully I’ll never have the occasion to find out if I need more 9.5K, but if I do and all of my rigging holds, I’ll be glad to have it.

I will however always put a lot less strain on my electrical system at not that much slower speed (6K pounds with HP: 345 amps at 7.8 fpm vs. HD: 231 amps at 7.0 fpm).

I guess my information wasn't correct about wondering if the HD winch would fit all bumpers. I was remembering reading this thread when I wrote my first reply so I wanted to point out that it might be a problem.

Can someone give me some measurements/dimensions of the bottom of the powerplant winch. I haven't ordered mine yet but need the dimensions to make a notch to fit the winch in my bumper. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

12k is overkill for a jeep

technically 9k is overkill, 8k is about the perfect

i have the HP and love it, wouldnt have it any other way

This is straight from the PowerPlant manual:
Mounting location:
1) Smooth and flat, thickness = 1/4" (6.4 mm)
2) 3/" (9.525 mm) lockwasher x 4
3) 3/8-16 x 1 1/4" long, grade 5 bolt x 4 torque 30-35 ft. lbs. (41-47 Nm)

Mounting bolt pattern
10.0" x 4.5", 254mm x 114.3mm
Unfortunately, they don't have the overall dimensions in there. I'll try to get a chance to measure it today.

I ended up getting the HP and am very happy with it so far. Went out yesterday and got stuck on purpose just to use it. Worked great!
