Already got fitted are ARB snorkel (although will change for pre cleaner top for dust), windshield lights, front hooks, front skid plate and BFG MT tyres.

My shopping list so far is:
1. 2" Old Man Emu lift with 619 springs front and 618 back
2. Cruise control (it's a long drive!)
3. Rampage mesh grill (for those annoying stones)
4. Highrock 4x4 lower cargo rack
5. Fogs lights (yes, it will be snowing in the Atlas mountains!)
6. Rear worklamp
7. Under body protection

Having a bit of thinking on 6 and 7 as have yet to see a JK which has had a light mounted to the hardtop but very useful when you need to unpack your gear. Anyone actually fitted one? Also not sure on the JK where the protection is needed underneath so open to your advice.

Am sure there'll be moe hence why I'm starting early but happy for your comments on what else I should do to the JK.

Not a newbie on this as have done before in my WJ so here's a taster of what it was like:
Just a thought, but have you considered a Superchips Flashpaq for increased engine performance?

I believe its a CRD, so plenty of torque anyway, and the chip i tried on mine was remote control, was really special, as when you pressed the button to alter the fueling, the engine cut out, after it did this 3 times i sent it back.

Oh really?........how can improved mpgs, torque, and overall better engine performance on ANY kind of trip be a complete waste....??? Do you have one? Do you even know what the Flashpaq is even capable of? The Flaspaq is not a chip, it is a programmer that has many other features besides tuning the engine. If you haven't already, I suggest you go here... https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modified-jk-tech-2/superchips-flashpaq-jk-initial-impressions-80188/ and read up before making such a blanket statement about the Flashpaq.

Hi guys

Thanks for the advice so far.

Been looking further into storage as this time will be taking my son as well so there'll be additional stuff and did originally think of getting the HighRock storage shelf for inside but with lets say three boxes, fold up chairs and table, tent, water and diesel cans, clothes, axe and shovel etc - well it all adds up so now thnking roof rack for light gear and the Garvin Track Rack system looks good. Any one got one fitted or has any feedback on them?

Also, has anyone fitted a dog or cargo guard inside the Jeep to stop stuff flying through to the front if you brake hard? Had a Mopar one fitted in my WJ but can't find anything for the JK.

Thanks

Snorkel with pre-cleaner might be a good investment. If not, make sure to bring at least one spare air filter element.

I have the Kargo Master Congo Cage in mine. Worked perfectly here in the US. I think it would also survive North African washboard. However, I decided to move my Maggiolina RTT from the Congo Cage to my trailer (my Congo Cage is for sale, but no sense sending it to the UK ).

Sounds like you have been to the desert before; I assume you know what dust and vibrations do to boxes, especially aluminum boxes, their interior content if not packed very tightly an the area they are standing on. I definitely prefer soft canvas bags over boxes, and plastic boxes (Pelican) over aluminum ones.
