It took a real solid pull. Like the instructions provided say - watch your head! When the oem knob does give you'll be pulling hard enough to accidentally hit yourself if you're not expecting it.

To those who installed, do you have to put it in 4L or is it possible to remove the shifter with it in 4HI?

I put it in 4L as suggested. It gave a better angle - sort of pulling up and away from the dash instead of pulling straighter up towards the roof. Hope that helps and makes sense.

Well I yanked and yanked and it ain't goin nowhere. I felt like I was going to rip the entire shifter out. Any other methods?

Pull and keep pressure on it and Twist the shifter nob back and forth it will come off and you will not damage the shifter.

I was just pulling a twisting in one direction, once I wiggled it back and forth it came right out. Thanks!
