Pro Comp MT2 Balance Problems
I am having a very hard time getting my 315/70R17 Procomp Extreme MT2s to balance. I had Cooper STTs before and they balanced fine.I put them on about a month ago and they tried 5 times to balance them and could not get it right. So they told me it must be the wheels, so I bought another set of wheels brand new, and its even worse! I dropped it off for them to mess with it all day, and they think something might be wrong with my Jeep, and want me to go have it checked out before replacing the tires. My jeep is a 2013 JKU with about 12,000 miles on it, and as I said before, I never had a single balance or vibration issue with it before I put on the new ones. Anyone else have this problem or know what to do?
Something wrong with your Jeep? They must be stupid. Balancing tires has nothing to do with the Jeep. That's between the wheel, the tire, and the weights. If they say they cant balance them because your Jeep, go somewhere else. However, if they balance your tires, AND THEN you still get bad vibes, then it could be your Jeep.
I forgot about those, I just can't figure out why I am having this issue with one tire brand and not the other. They will let me change to a different brand if I want, so I need to figure that out.
After running GY MTRs and not having a lot of luck getting them balanced, I found that shops that normally do big rig tire balances have the know-how and tire equipment do an off road tire correctly.
Although I have never seen it on my jeep, I have seen on my F-350 where the lug nuts wont center the wheel on the hub despite it being a factory wheel. To solve this I use 2-3 tapered nuts to get wheel exactly centered. After it is, I remove those and replace. Perfect balance matters on my Super Duty because I run ~70 PSI in the rear tires to tow, so any out of balances shake the truck when not hauling.

It may get somewhat problematic to balance this tire type & size, regardless of make.
Had this with my 315/70/17 Mickey Thompson MTZ. At one place they said the tires can't be balanced.
At another place, they balanced perfectly.
A better place, with more knowledge and maybe better balancing equipment, may solve this for you.

It's Discount Tire, so I expected them to be able to do it, that's why I just told them to get me some Nitto Trail Grapplers. I didn't want the extra weight, but I'm tired of dealing with it. They are supposed to be the most round. If these don't work I will just have to take it to a 4wd shop.

All 4 tires, on 8 different rims, can't be balanced ?!... The balancing machine may be faulty, or its' operator doesn't know his job.

Sometimes it takes a few tries and you def have to have a tech that knows what he's doing. There's always the possibly a tire is out of round but still can be balanced out w/a shit tone of weight.
Do you have shop local that Uses a Hunter road force machine ?
