Default Problems/Cons of Running 37s

I really want to run 37s Nitto Trail Grapplers because of the extra clearance and admit it.....they look damn sexy. I have a 2013 JKU Rubi with 4.10s that will be here next week. I do not want to cause any problems as far as breaking my brand new axles, and tearing things up that costs a lot of money is not on my to do list. So Please if you have had any experiences damaging/breaking parts of your Jeep because of running 37s.......... Post them here so I will know if it is something I want to get into or not. 35s look ok but 37s are primetime baby. Also give experiences of having to rehear/not regearing. Some say yes you will have to regear or your Rig will be a turd......Some say no need to regear. I dont want to feel like I am driving a tank around everyday because it lags and hesitates because the tires are weighing it down and cant keep the weight moving properly.

Thanks in advance. Please help me. I am on the fence and dont want to make the wrong decision.

Is your 2013 an auto or manual? That will help the expert opinions give you advice on your need to regear or not. Also what type of wheeling do you intend on doing? How often? How extreme?

I have ran 37's for a year. I say yes regear, ran 35's on 4:10's and it made a huge difference regearing when I went to 37's. Depending on how much lift you run you will need at least new front driveshaft. Depending on your wheeling, how often, difficulty, and driving style may need new axles , sleeves and gussets. I haven't offroaded my hard or often and am very careful on when I do. I haven't done any work to my axles or housings. Some will say they have destroyed theirs with 37's but i think it all depends on your use and driving style. Just my opinion and you know what some say about opinions everyone has one.

Like we talked before, i will not regear. 3.6 auto, 4.10. Plenty of pep and pick up. I have my stock drive shaft as well. 3" kit that netted 4" and i wheel a bit. The key to 37" is bump stops, flat flares and trimmed pinch seams. I hsve broken sway bar links, but that was because the ones with the kit were too short. Both sizes have their good and their bad.

Get the tires and then see for yourself if you need to regear. Personally, I don't see the point. You can "regear" it with your tranny by using a lower gear.

I have an auto and have ordered a 1310 CV Coast front driveshaft.

Thanks for your advice Matt. I wish you were closer I'd definitely take you up on your offer!! I'm just wanting to fully know what I'm getting into.

From what I've read you can definitely pull off 37s with a'13 helluva lot better than the pre12s. I will say, if your liking 37s go 37s because having 35s and wanting 37s leads to wishing you'd just have got them and that sux. I know went through it and have37s the chit. I wheel so i upgraded to an evo magnum 44kit
