Project LIG4X4
For the exo-cage.... are you talking a functional exterior roll cage? Or are you thinking something like the Kargomaster cage for a rack? I don't think I've ever seen anyone doing exo-cages for the JK... very interesting idea. I don't know a lot about the ones for the defender, I wonder what they are anchoring to in front of the windscreen.
Would you try to tie back into the roll bar through the top like the defender, or would you go back to the rear exterior?
External- welded to the front bumper, the rock crawlers, and back bumber, to cover the whole jeep. We had them in our jeeps in the army. not beautiful but with a 4 point harness, kept me alive several times.

Man I wish I had the same problem, List is not small.
Front and rear bumpers
3 or 4" lift
35" tires
Upgraded Rims (tell the dealer to not give you the MOAB rims and just know you are upgrading)
sliders with steps
skid plates, Engine at minimum and diff covers.
5:13 gearing
new drivelines
Powerplant winch
Onboard air
Upgraded Battery to Optima Yellow deep cycle 34/78
Upgrade lockers (possiblly)
DVD system for kiddie's
Upgrade interior Carpet mats
CB
Hi-Lift jack
Jerry can mount
Tow behind trailer (Coleman has some really nice ones for off road)
Possibly the Safari Cage to put some gear on.
Now here is the question to ask. Would you consider the engine swap to a 4.7 or hemi or even diesel?
Also I'd think some windshield Light brackets with maybe the PIAA lights. Maybe a set for the front bumper.
Edit: I forgot snorkel kit

NO DVD - defeats the purpose of "get away"... God forbid, next we'll start talking about satellite receivers and even air-conditioners

You know, very few people truly understand the benefits of having a high quality wench! I applaud you; your priorities are in the right place. This is one mod I have not heard discussed.
Maybe we could get a thread dedicated to high quality wenches!
On the side... where exactly would you mount your wench?

Only get the wench if she can handle the winch

There is the green JK with the full exo cage that was up on ebay i believe and posted a while back on the forum... cant find the thread.
I loved the post of the red Rubicon with the adventure trailer and the racks (solar panels - probably with some deep cycle battery rack are TOTALLY COOL), sure seems like it can fill the "take the family for a week" requirement. A question though: how "off road" is this kind of trailer? my idea of "away" is not a gravel road, but going out to camp where only other jeepers can get to.
your not going to get a trailer that is more "off road" capable. They are amazing

There was a similar thread where the guy had a budget of $15,000. This is the setup I would go with:
Full Traction 6" Long Arm Suspension Lift... $3200
37" BFG KM2's... $400 x 5
17" Pro Comp Xtreme Alloy Series 9089... $250 x 5
Superior 5.13 Gears... $500
Shrockworks Rock Sliders... $500
Shrockworks Stubby Front Bumper... $630
Shrockworks Rear Bumper/Tire Carrier... $700
Warn XD9000i Winch... $950
PIAA 525 Combo Driving & Fog Lights... $330
Airaid Cold Air Intake... $220
Magnaflow Performance Exhaust... $450
That comes to a total of $10,730 (before labor, shipping costs, etc.). This Jeep would be able to do every trail in Moab with ease. Use the extra ~$10K to either a) drop in a Hemi, b) buy a matching trailer, or c) buy some land and build your own mini off-road park.
By the way, I think exocages are overkill. They seem like more of a hassle than anything. With some of the designs I've seen, you can't even put your top down!

with the suspension id say the teraflex 2.5" lift with front coils so that way u can mount the winch and bumper without having to worry about sagging. id say 34" tires so u can do some rock crawling and some mudding and get good performance for both but if u do decide on the the 34s u may have to regear im getting 33s and i still gatta regear a little bit (altho i have 3.21s
) unless u have 4.10s then ull have no problem being u have a stick. tire width is up to u i like wide because i like traction, disconects help alot out if ur climbing rocks, and i'd get aussi lockers last time i checked they are the best for the money (but that was a while ago) with all that u'd eat up over 2k right there, altho this is my fantist right here lol but hey u got alot of money to play with to get all the gagets u might want. o yea and by the way thank you for serving in the greatest military in the world and defending our homeland, i one day want to do that as well.
