Default Proper Tire to Wheel size

I have seen a few photos here and there with 35" tires on stock Rubicon wheels.

I wanted to put 35's on my stock wheels but was told i could not because the wheels are not wide enough. you need a minimum 8.5" wide wheel for a 35X12.5 tire so say the specs. is this true? or can i actually use my stock 17X7.5 wheels with a 35X12.5 tire?

...also is there a bigger spacer out there larger than 1.5" I wanted to get a 1.75"

People run 37s on stock rubi wheels. It isn't recommended because you won't get as wide of a patch as you could with a wider tire. Many people do it, and i will as well. Poor mans beadlock too lol

What do you mean by poor mans beadlock? does the more narrow wheel help stop the tire from sliding on the wheel?

yessir. Plus, bulging tires from the wheel Looks tough. Helps with a little wheel protection too.

We just got our 35's installed on our stock 7.5" wheels today actually. We were denied service at a major tire retailer becuase the manufacuter said 8" min. They said with a narrow wheel the tire wouldn't wear correctly, that the center would bulge out. But we went and found ourselves an independent tire shop and they put them on without question.

I'm going to do the chalk test one of these days to dial in my psi in hopes that will get me a good wear pattern.

Please post up the tire pressure that you've found to be best wear.

Yep, little more umph where the bead of the tire presses on the lip of the rim. Only really worried about it when aired down pretty good.
