Question about backspacing
I know the stock sahara 18 inch rims have a 6.25 backspacing. What happens if you buy rims that have the correct bolt pattern of 5 on 5 but say a 5 inch back spacing instead of 6.25? how does that effect the appearance? and will they go on the hub?
For that wide of a tire - you will need some back space to keep from rubbing. If you do a quick serach on tire rub and backspace - there is a ton of info.
I went with 33's and 11 - ish width and a 4' backspace and have no rub with no lift. It really depends on your combination of mods and what you can do without needing backspace, etc...

I have 33x12.5 on a 17x8 wheel that has 4.5BS and from what I was told there is no rubbing issues at full turn either way. attached you can see the difference in sizes. installed and next to the stock, it seems taller because there is no weight on the tire so it will be a little bit taller.
I have 5.75 inches of backspacing, probably as tight as you want to get with a 12.5 inch wide tire. They are MB Motoring V-drive and they were advertised in 25mm offset. they are 8.5 inches wide by 17 inches. No rubbing and my tires are under the fenders like you want.

Spare has a 1.5 inch spacer to keep it off the stock bumper for now. Very secure and tight not causing issues after 6 months of being on there.

The "Gold Standard" is 4.5" backspacing on an 8" wide wheel, which is the same as 5" backspacing on a 9" wheel. Keep in mind that there is a difference in section width with wider wheels and taller tire height with narrower wheels, differing from the measured wheel width of the tire manufacturer. In round numbers you will increase section width by .4" for every inch extended beyond the tire manufacturers tested wheel width and increase tire height by the same when narrowing wheel width.
it affects the appearance by making the jeep look beter.....
they will go on the hub, prolly mo better than the stock ones......
