Default question about superchip

I have read that the computer on the jk takes a few thousand miles(5000-6000) to "learn". should i wait any lenght of time before putting in a superchip?

I'm reasonably familiar with how ECUs work, although I'm no expert. I used to tune my WRX. I highly doubt there is anything in your Jeeps ECU that limits it's performance for thousands of miles. I also doubt there is anything that it takes your JK thousands of miles to learn.

Things your ECU will learn are short and long term fuel trim, short and long term knock correction and possibly some paramters involving the electronic throttle. I've never worked with an electronic throttle so I can't be sure. I believe prior to electronic throttle the ECUs would learn target IAC (idle air control) values to maintain idle speed for different conditions (A/C on, A/C off, etc) . I believe the electronic throttle replaces IACs so there is probably some learned values involved in there as well.

I've never seen the JK's ECU code, but your Jeep will learn everything it's going to learn in the first 50 or 60 miles after a reset. It learns most of what it's going to learn in the first 10 miles. Over time the long term parameters will change as you go through the seasons (fuel trims will change with temps).

So that was my long winded way over complicated explaination of this.... The short answer is there should be no reason to wait to try the flashpaq.
