Default Question about windshield mounted lights

I like the look of windshield mounted lights, but is there some glare from the housing during the day, or is most of the housing blocked from vision due to the windshield frame? Would it be better to get black housings, or would stainless not be too bad?

I just put the hella black magic lights on the smittybuilt brackets and there is no glare whatsoever. However, the housing is black. The lights themselves don't glare off my jeep and I have a bright silver rubi. I have no blcked vision either.

I put KC's on mine and there was a lot of glare. I finally put on a set of the KC shields. Glare's gone.

There is no glare at all of the chrome housing (which I agree you would not expect), given I have large 8" KC long-range slimlites. Pictures in my gallery. They are mounted on the down-and-out style mopar brackets which I thoroughly recommend rather than the up-and-in style of KC and other brackets.

If someone could post a pic from the drivers seat looking out that would be really cool. I'm curious as to how they obstruct the view (if at all) from the drivers seat.

I got the KC lites (6") and they use Black powder coated casings and with the wiring kit, relay and switch, it was $130.00

I didn't use the kit but there isn't any glare from the lights on/off

many of the Hella's have an ABS rear housing that has no glare. Actually the glare problem is when they are lit up at night. I get a horrible halo and the glare off the hood takes some getting used to. On my Hellas, the glass runs out to the edge of the housing, so you can see the light refracting back at you. I wrapped e-tape around the rim of the light and voila - it was gone.
This is a great JK mod.
