Question for people with 35s
More than the EPA, we need them or else our water levels will be 10 feet over what we have now: kiss Florida, Texas goodbye. Sulfur free diesel that the companies are dragging their feet on is really needed. The diesel engine was made in America a hundred years ago by a man who wanted independence from oil. His idea was using peanuts. He was ahead of his time. But let's get back on topic.
I think you should do some research on Rudolf Diesel and Herbert Ackroyd-Stuart.
But, history aside, using renewable algae for fuel is better than using limited fossil fuel. Specially that China & India are going to grow fast, and demand more fossil fuel than us. Think the price of gas is high now, just wait. If we can get away from oil for transportation, we can get out of the craziness of the middle east. Let China & India deal with them. Fewer wars for us. Less terrorism for us.
Big oil (international non-USA companies) will fight this because they want profit. When we turn to alternative fuels, it's just a re-distribution of wealth. The sooner we switch, American companies can profit. If we wait too long, other countries will benefit. We as a nation have to spend money (research/ build the infrastructure) to make money.
I own two JKs, both 2011s (3.8l) -
Auto JKUR, bone stock. It gets 14 city, 18 highway, usually 17-point-something aggregate MPG.
6-speed JKUS, 2.5" lift, 315 x 17 MTZs, 17 x 9 MT Classic IIs, Stell off-road bumpers at both ends, winch. It averages right around 17 MPG.
