Question for those with heated seats.
Question for those with heated seats. How do you like them and where and what brand is everyone using. Did you do the install or not and how difficult was it.
I installed the Mopar kit myself. It's kind of a pita because of the hog rings that are used on the seat covers. I've read some posts where people just used small wire ties instead but I'm not sure how they'd hold up.
As far as the heaters are concerned: they're fast at warm-up but they are a little too hot for my tastes (even on low). I've had heated seats in every vehicle (at least 8) in the last 10 years and these are the only ones I don't like.
So, in a nutshell, I wouldn't do the Mopar kit again, and I wouldn't do it myself again; I'd track down a better kit and have an auto upholstery guy do them.
Hope this is of some help to you.

When I bought my Jeep I had the dealership install the Mopar kit. I love em. Of course I have a back injury so even when it is 105 outside, I have the heated seats on with the A/C runnin. They make long drives bearable for me.
I was little worried initially, but the MOPAR kit has the elements inside some insulation (feels a lot lot wool, actually).
I've had them cranked to the "butt roast" setting for reasonably long periods of time because I live in Canada (Calgary to be exact) and leave for work at 5 AM. When it's -40 outside "butt roast" is a good setting to have them on. By the time I get a few miles down the road, I generally roll them back to "1" or "2". Even when it's that cold "3" is just too bloody hot.

So It seems like no one has any aftermarket ones. The seat cover deal might be the way to go. Have you taken the seat cover off to see if the element is doing any harm to the seat. That would be my only concern with doing it that way.
