Default Question on Winch size

I have a 4 door Jk with 35" tires and bumpers and tire carrier...Should I get a 8,000 pound winch or 10,000 pound? I am also getting a synthetic rope

I had a 8,000 on my TJ and it pulled fine..

I have an 8 on mine and does fine. Look at the gearing of the motors and you may find a surprise.

The rule of thumb is 1.5 to 2 times the weight of your vehicle...

9 to 10 thousand. You have a heavier vehicle now. You may never need it, but there are too many variables to know so play it conservative. And remember: A winch's rated pull applies only to the last few spool wraps. Not every situation lets you wind out all of your line ... or even use a snatch block.
