Default Questions about Regearing.

Hi, there. I have been looking for JKU and will trade ma GTI for 09 JKU X tomorrow!
Only things I want to do is 2.5" lift and 35's tires but I just realized that I need to regear for this set up. It is my first SUV( I know that wrangler is just wrangler btw) and I have no experience with off-roading.

My 09' JKU has;
4speed Automatic Trans..(couldnt find manual one..)
3.21 axle ratio
Dana 30 solid front axle
Dana 44 HD rear axle

For 35's tires set up, I guess that I need 5.13 gear rato, right?
What parts should I purchase to regear and How much does it cost around?
(Please recommed me the company of product if you could)
I could spend around $5000 for lift, new rims, tires, and regearing. Is it enough to get all of those parts?

I apologize that I have too many questions, and they have been asked many times but I could not get a clear answer for it. Please help this poor newbie.. .
Thank you!!

For 35'' tire IMO 5.13 are the best choice, or you can go with 4.88 too, depending if you do a lot off-roading. Next year im going with 5.13, i tried both gear and for me the 5.13 is the best choice.

With 5.000$ you have enough to get 5 tires (Tire Rack or Discount Tire), 5 wheels (jeep 4x4 center, 4WD or Quadratec), 2.5 lift kit (North Ridge 4x4), shocks (North Ridge 4x4) and new Gear (North Ridge 4x4 or 4WD).

DONT FORGET! You have a 3.21 stock gear in front, so you need a carrier with.

Good luck boddy!

The automatic should come with 3.73 ratio from factory. Manual is what has the 3.21. Anyway, 5.13 is going to be great for offroading and if you decide to upgrade your tires later on.

Agree...The sticker on the car says that the car has 3.21 gear ratio but I dont think so.
I heard that JKU x with Automatic has different ratio..not 3.21
Anyone know about it??
If it has 3.73, is it okay to run 33's tires without any problem??

If you have 3.73 Ratio, you dont need a carrier my friend

With 3.73 in front and 4.10 in the rear (this is what you have) you can run 33'' without problem, you can also go 35'' and keep the stock ratio but i suggest the Supership Flash Pack for better performance.

If your in a GTI guy, your prob a 6-speed guy too. You should hold out for a manual if you really want one. Automatics are very hard to get up to speed and once
Lifted have a lot of shifting issues with larger tires un till you flash pack. I have a 6-speed and by no means is it fast but I can control the rpms and shift points which helps with MPGs also. Keep an eye out and get what you want and if an auto is what you prefer then have at it! But don't just buy the first JK you see. Also shoot for a 3:73 or 4:10 stock gear ratio if you can. Good luck and welcome... Almost!

Yeah Ive driven only manual cars g35 coupe, Subie STi, and GTI but I need to get a new car with automatic trans because of ma parents and girlfriend. What a family guy..
BTW, the car is clean as Carfax and Autocheck say..I had test drive twice. The car has 22000 miles on it(yeah warrant is existing!!). Hard top, power lock and power windows as well. The dealer was asking $26500 at the first time, but he accepted my $21000 offer finally!! Tax and any additional fees are even included with the price.
I'd bothered him for 2 weeks to get that price.. He hates me now... Id checked bunch of JKU for 2 months and I think this one is what I am looking for. I am so happy to join this world!!
