Default Questions on CAI modifications

I have been driving my 08 Sahara 4 door for 3 weeks now and am missing the power, acceleration and gas mileage of my former SUV. After reading hundreds of posts I notice that many of my fellow JKers all have added the AEM CAI intakes kits. I would like to hear your honest experiences with this mod?
Does it improve performance, does it improve gas mileage, is it noisy, what about my warranty, best place to buy, is it easy to install are their better kits K&N etc??
Any advise would be great!
BTW - I also have read that almost everyone seems to "drill mirrors" what the heck is that and how do I do it??
Thanks

While your drilling the mirrors, try drilling the airbox. IT HELPS!

Not sure what lux ute you traded in...but power luxury are not long suites for a wrangler.

You traded power and luxury for off road prowess.

A wrangler is a BAD commuter car, it makes NO sense to get one unless you are going to offroad it, or, the sacrifices made to get it, (MPG, luxury appointments, etc...) for the image or the way it makes you feel, are worth it to you.

If they are...enjoy. If they are not, then you made a mistake.

Hopefully, you will accept the strengths and weaknesses as part of the overall package....you might have had a lighter construction unibody tall station wagon type luxury ute...now, you have a real truck frame, and the ability to run punishing offroad trails, etc.

Enjoy the good parts.

As for modifications...well, no matter what you do, it will not make a big difference in performance. You might be able to tweak out a total of a few percent better performance, but it will never be a performance machine, its a plow horse that pulls hard and steady, but doesn't win races.

Less restrictive exhausts, CAI, chips/tuners, lower gearing, etc, help a bit..but, probably not like you're looking for, a few HP here and there's about it. (unless you want to get into nitrous, engine swaps, etc...)

What WERE you driving that you missed the performance and MPG of?
