Questions- need help
Conax- I don't know if I should do the gearing as well. I am DEFINITELY lifting it and putting 35" tires on- I don't care how freakin' impractical it is. I just don't want to do all these modifications and have a "super sluggish" Jeep. I want to do it right- if I need to change the gears, then I'll change them. I don't know what I am doing. I just know how I want it to look and I want it to be right. Basically, I am bugging the hell out of the people on this forum and relying on them to tell me exactly what to buy.
I ordered my Jeep on October 6 (White 4-door Rubicon). The salesman told me 8 to 12 weeks (January the latest); however, Wayoflife said he ordered one in July and he wasn't expecting it until January. I am soooooo bummed out! Probably won't get the thing until March? I HOPE NOT!
Rubimon- As much as I appreciate your link to Superior Axle showing the gearing chart, I still don't get it. I probably won't ever get it. Don't even try to explain it to me. Can I cheat off of you too?
Just tell me exactly what I need to buy!

Hey lindsaythomp, the chart that Rubimon is directing you to shows that for 35" tires, 4.56 gear ratio will restore your Jeep's performance to where it needs to be. But, I should tell you that a lot of us have gone up to 4.88 gears as they'll give you an extra boost in power. The only draw back to 4.88's is that they'll also drink a bit more gas. Depending on what you want your Jeep to do, it may be well worth it.
For whatever it's worth, I run 4.88's on my TJ that has 35" tires now and think it's perfect.
