it makes it easier for an auto if you remove it. The reason is, it allows your front axle to drop down lower. The front drive shaft will hit the skid and stop it from lowering down all the way.

When i got my auto, I took a grinder and notched out the skid plate where the axle hit it. on my 08, the skid had a notch cut out, but it was on the wrong side LOL....

but taking it off will make the lift go a lot easier, trust me.

X2,, only 4 bolts to take the skid off anyway.
