Default quick steering question

I was off roading in a couple feet of snow and was in 4low with lockers engaged and while trying to dig through the snow i happened to look at my left front tire at full turn and it was wobbling back and forth. the steering wheel wasnt really moving much, in fact, i didn't notice any movement in the wheel at all but the tire was moving back and forth a good 3-4 inches back and forth. is that much play normal or was it because the front axle was locked?

Turning the wheels sharply with everything locked is not good for any part of the drive train. It does crazy things because if the u-joints.

Just to be safe, though, jack up the front and see if you can feel any play in the steering system by wiggling the tires back and forth, and up and down.
