Default Burchnj... LoD 2-Door Rails are Available

Hi Burchnj,

I purchased the LoD rock rails for a 2-door about 3 weeks ago. They may not be listed; but, they are available by calling LoD.

I installed them last weekend. The good news is that they are frame mounted. I am a little concerned, though, that a number of the fasteners are attached to the frame with bolts threaded into holes which are drilled and tapped into the frame rails. I am sure there must be a better way to drill the holes (either technique or bits). Tapping the holes wasn't too bad. My concern is that there isn't that much threaded surface area through the frame rails. (The two mounting flanges for the right hand side rail uses one skid plate bolt each from the front skid plate and the gas tank skid. The left hand rail uses the front skid plate bolt, but there isn't anything in the rear flange other than the tapped holes.)

Has anyone welded these rails onto the frame? (Maybe the threaded surfaces will prove to be stronger than I think.)

Other than the attachment concern, I am really pleased with the rails. These things are beefy, and they look great. (If you are looking for a color to match your fenders, I would probably go with the non-gloss powder coating. The semi-gloss is a little too glossy when compared to the fenders... at least in my opinion.)

Good Luck

Jeff

I like the SHRockworks rails. They protude enough that they'll give you door ding protection too on a jeep with a lift.

Give Chris a call at LoD. They make them for the two door because they used my jeep to make the jigs for them! They are very high quallity and strong. Not to mention they look pretty good too.

Go for the Offroad Evolution rock rails. They are weld on to the frame, work as a step, can be used as a hilift point, they cost less than most other RR in the market and the quality is impecable.

Mine will be arriving very soon :-)

I love my A to Z Fab sliders. I was surprised to find pictures of my Jeep on their web site!
