Rancho RS9000XL shocks: I'm a believer
So I finally got around to getting my new Rancho RS9000XL shocks installed. Let me first say that they are made in the USA, stamped right on the shock body. And whoever designed the front shocks must have an auto mechanic background. There is a little nut on the top of the shock body you can hold with a wrench to help keep the shock in place when tightening down the stud.
I'm still playing around with the settings, but I currently have them on setting four. I could immediately feel that they were softer then the Bilstein 5100 I previously had. For those that live in pothole states, they do seem to absorb the bumps better.
Off to mail in my rebate.

Not to cast disrespect on the auto mechanics out there, but any decent engineer should take maintainability into consideration during the design process. The engineers for the Bilstein 5100s should take note of how to properly design a shock.
Been running mine for about a month now. Had bilsteins for almost 5 years. What a difference! I'm running mine on 2 just to enjoy the soft ride for now. I'll probably settle in around 4 when I'm ready to reduce the body roll a bit. I tried them on 9 and it was a brutal ride. Lol. I think, based on all the settings I've tried, the bilsteins are probably close to a 7 on the ranchos. While I thought I liked that stiffness, not true any more.
