Default RC 3.25 lift kit question.

Hey guys, After loads of research, I decided to buy the RC 3.25 lift kit and the Dual Stabilizer kit a few days ago. When I bought them I asked a guy on RC'S site if i'd need anything else to make the jeep drive right. He said NO.

Note: The Lift kit comes with shocks x4, Coils w/ stoppers, Relocating Bracket for the rear Trac bar and mounting hardward, and a few other things that aren't important.

Now after I bought them i've continued reading up on lifts etc. (here on the forum) and it seems like everything I've read, including the FAQ page, says that an Adjustable Track bar (front) as well as Adj upper/lower Control Arms are needed for the front.??

So, I just went back to RC's site and asked a guy named Davey and he said that those are just mod's and I wouldn't need them. I then replied, So my Steering and Caster etc. will be dialed in without these additional "mod's" and he replied YEP.

So, now I'm confused Do I NEED these "MOD'S" in order to have a Safe/trouble free driving experience or not?

You wont NEED the control arms and front track bar, but eventually you will probly want them. I just installed the RC 2.5 spacer lift with a new set of new factory 4 door rubi springs on my 2 door X. This gave me a total lift height of just under 3.5" I havent installed a rear track bar bracket yet but will be ordering one this week since the rear axle is obviously shifted to the right pretty good.

The front doesnt seem to have shifted much at all and honestly I cant tell just by eye-balling it so I will probly hold up on the front track bar for a while. Next on my list is deffinately going to be a set of lower adjustable control arms. The jeep drives pretty good the way it is now but it does wander a little and you kinda have to keep a concious effort to keep it straight. We put it on the alignment rack at the shop I work at and the castor was at 1.9 degrees which is way to low...

Ill put it this way, you will be OK putting the lift on and driving it the way it is. It will drive OK. But if you want it to be PERFECT and drive AWSOME, yes you will need the control arms at the least and the track bar will help as well

I have that kit installed and I have had ZERO problems...drives just fine to me. The only thing I could see myself possibly changing is one day adding the adj. front track bar...but my front axle is only shifted about 3/8" so it ain't a big deal.

I have the RC 2.5 spring lift and it was fine after installation. However, because my wife drives it on a daily basis I wanted it dialed in. I bought Currie Lower front control arms and both front and rear adj. track bars. After putting this stuff on and getting all adjusted right on it drives like it did from the showroom. I would suggest going the extra step and money but that is my opinion. I just ordered 3/4 " spacers so with a little adjustment I will be good to go and have the same setup you have. Dont forget to adjust your draglink so your steering wheel is spot on and you dont get any warning lights.

Need? No. Adj trackbars and control arms at this lift height are a preference.

But - define "Safe/trouble free driving experience".

How much will having an axle shifted to one side bother you?
How much will having flighty handling and bumpsteer bother you?

(The axle shift I could live with. The handling, I could not. I don't know what the correct term is, but for me, hard braking at 3.25" lift with stock arms was no fun at all. Two handed death grip keeping it in my lane at times...)

Anyway, drive it, see how 'you' like the handling, then decide.

Default Thanks...

Thanks for the replies guy's .

After reading your post's, I went ahead and ordered the JKS Trac Bar last night
(around $160.00 shipped). Still researching the Control Arms, but i'm looking at buying the Lower C/A's as they seemingly (according to what i've read) adjust further than the uppers, which may or may not be needed to dial in the caster.

Again, Thanks!

Default My bad..

I did order the one for $144.00 shipped. I looked at so many last night and this morning, I must have gotten giddy from all of the numbers etc.
I stand corrected. Thanks for calling me on it though because, I was getting ready to cancel my order If I did pay $160.00.

Default Installed the lift etc..

My son and I put the lift on and had the tires (35's) mounted today. I gotta tell ya, It drives like a champ! I still haven't put the RC Dual steering Stabilizers on yet.
When we got finished I went to re-center the steering wheel and it was already dead on. Again..
No shimmy, shaking, vibration or wooble Just a little rubbing up front at full turn.

Needless to say, I'm pleased!
