re-gear or not with 35's?
I ran stock 4.10s with my Sahara for a few thousand miles on 35s and it is fine, but I knew I would be swapping out to 5.13s sooner than later. Of course I like the 5.13s much better! Check out some of the other various threads on this subject by using the search.
Oh and if you have a 6spd all the better with 4.10s, but I'm guessing you have the auto with 4.10s?

O.k I guess since this is the latest thread on 35s on stock gears I will post my questions here. I have used the search function and have read a lot of threads that have dated back pretty far and have come up with this. Stock gears can be used in the meantime until new gears can be purchased but the jeep will run sluggish uphill’s and will require more gas. They can be used off-roading but they are not recommended for mudding unless you have a buddy or a winch to recover yourself if stuck. I read the Transmission thread and it does not seem to cause many problems (or at least that’s what I took away from it). Fuel consumption will rise due to heavier foot to troll along. Now here are some questions I had about it that I have not found yet.
1. The tires are larger for than stock so is there any damage to the driveshaft? ( now I know this is going to go hand and hand with the lift ) but I know more stress trying to turn these tires has got to have an effect somewhere besides fuel consumption.
2. Is it a common problem in one area to go ahead and replace an item due to increased wear? ( I know the gears but I have to look around Japan when I get back to find somebody to install the gears and that’s going to take some sourcing seeing as how I don’t speak Japanese but I am sure as hell going to find one).
I would like to know these questions because i don’t want to do anything that is going to cause problems right off the back. I have the money to spend I just got to find the places to do it and the people to trust. Jeeps are not so common in Okinawa Japan unless its a Suzuki Jimny (samurai). Thanks if you can give me any info on this and I will make sure not to start a post on the same thing but to add on someone else’s.
I have a
2008 JK 2DR, 4WD, 2.5 TF Coil Lift w/ Shocks, 35 BFG KM2s with 3:73 gears in it.
I am new to the whole Jeep think but I am not new to going off road because we have been driving HMMWVs, and MRAP Cougars around for 9 month and have been thru some pretty rough terrain since I have been in the mountains of Afghanistan and I know that preventative maintenance and checks and services are key in these types of vehicles as well as JK's.

I have 4:10 6speed and 35s ITS PERFECT FOR ME. I think it has PLENTY of power on road and offroad especially. 4:10 /35s are a good match if you want even better performance you could do 4:56 but i dont see that its even worth it. my 2cents
