If you go on frequent long trips I just don't see how doing 70mph at a couple hundred rpm higher is going to SAVE gas. And save enough to add up to $1000+?

Maybe adding a Superchips Flashpaq and using their gas saver tune would be a better idea...

well my rpms r lower with 4.10's. and i have a lack of power now too. if i have the cruise control on at 65 my rpm's r at 1700 to 1800 on flat road. but when i hit a little hill i drop from 65 to 60 really fast. then my rpms shoot up to over 3000 to get back to 65..

that is what worrys me. the constant fluctuation of the rpm's just to keep a steady 65..

. i heard if i do a superchip, new air intake and exhaust would give more horsepower and better gas.. it that is true. could that take the place of regearing??

can u tell me what i should get for all 3 options??

I guess "constant" is a relative term. I live in Florida and it has yet to happen to me, but I can see where living in hilly country could cause that.

I feel my JK has more power with the Superchips, exhaust, and intake, but I don't know about gas savings. I am running a 91 octane tune and i find myself driving it like I stole it, so I haven't seen the advertised gas savings. I am, however, a lot happier zipping through town in my JK.

Superchips is $300 and I would recommend it whether you regear or not. So why not pick one up and give it a shot? You may end up liking it and regearing may drop in priority. And if not, you'll be able to reprogram you ECU for the new gears and tire size anyway.

Id have to say yes since it let's you use different octane gas, change shift points, mess with the OD schedule, etc. Here is an article you may find interesting.
