Default Rear axle off center

Installed a skyjacker 2.5" lift which included shocks, springs, rear sway bar links, track bar relocation bracket and some sort of brace that runs from the track bar bracket to the diff.

I went wheeling a week later and heard a metal grinding nose when tucking the rear driver tire. Got out and noticed my drive shaft was rubbing my evap skid plate.

I measured from the frame to the tire on both sides and my axle favors the driver side about 1.25"

Any ideas?

The axle started off centered, you went on a wheeling trip and the bracket/mount was fatigued, a week later you heard a grinding noise, and now the axle is offcenter? So the relo bracket bent/shifted/broke? Or the stock bracket that the relo bracket bolts to is bent/twisted/broke?

Look at them and see what is going on. Maybe remove that bracket and get an adjustable trackbar? Or remove the bracket and get a different bracket that is made better?

Maybe take a few pics and post them...

Not trying to be a jackass but did you install a part backwards? Detailed pics would help.

I believe when you lift a Jeep, with NO track bar relo bracketry done, the rear axle will shift to passenger, while the front axle will shift to the drivers side.

Yours is doing the opposite, so its either a bent part, or an improper installation.

You can keep and use your stock rear track bar....and the relo bracket will either be a drop down on passenger side where it ties to the frame, or the drivers side where its mounted to the axle and raises the mount point higher. If you did a drop bracket on the passenger side on the frame, and also a relo bracket on the drivers side, or even if you put an adjustable rear TB on without making it stock length, then it would probably shift the axle over to the drivers side. You have to do 1 or the other, but NOT both.

If you bent something, it could also cause a shift.

In the end, this is hard to figure out without pix. With pix, we could tell if you bent something, or if something as mentioned above was done incorrectly.

That is what results from axle shift, but its not the cause. The OP wants the cause or reason he is rubbing.

No pics right now however I don't think they would help because everything looks normal. Only pic I could show anything abnormal is the measurements from the frame. I know nothing is bent because I took it apart and tried putting the track bar in a lower hole (it has 2 1 inch apart) and nothing changed. I have a friend who has the same issue. Neither of us have an adjustable track bar, and that seriously sounds like the issue. With a longer track bar it will allow the axle to return to its stock location. I can take a pic later, but does this sound about right?

As soon as you mounted it into a hole 1" lower on the relocations bracket it should have moved the rear axle towards the passenger side. Thats how geometry works.

If everything is unbent and unbroken as you say then there is seriously something wrong. best guess would be that you recieved the wrong bracket if it has been installed correctly.

Yes removing the bracket and replacing it with an adjustable trackbar is the right way to go.
But the bracket SHOULD eliminate the need. Thats what it is made to do.

When I installed my raised rear trackbar bracket that came with my tf 2.5" coil lift it over corrected my rear axle towards the drivers side. It was off by more that 1/2". I installed a shorter rear adjustable trackbar (synergy)to get my axle as close to center as possible but its still slightly off even with the trackbar shortened as much as possible. People think for some reason the raised rear trackbar mount is meant to center the rear axle. It is actually meant to raise the rear rollcenter for better handling. Although the bracket has cenetred rear axles for some guys that is not the case for everyone. Everyones rig is different with different size lifts. For the guys whose bracket didnt recenter the rear axle only an adjustable trackbar will dial it in

I seem to recall that some people don't even mess with their track bars when staying under 3" of lift. I did a 3" lift and only needed to lengthen my new track bar by 3/8".
