Rear Back up Camera failure
I installed an after market rear bac up camera right after taking delivery of my 2016 JKU Rubicon. Has worked flawlessly since then. Starting several days ago when shifting into reverse I get a black screen and the "check surroundings" message at top of screen. Anyone have any ideas as to where to start looking for problem?
Mine is doing the same thing, it shows the lineup lines rest is black..I noticed the other day, that if I wiggle the the gear select a little, it starts to work. I planed on doing research as soon as some higher priorities are handled.
In my case I found broken power feed wires in the transition to the tailgate that fed the camera.
I got the same check surroundings message on the screen that was otherwise black.

I have a black screen, but the grid lines and warning message to use mirrors in addition to the camera still comes up. Also, sometimes the camera works. Would this be a power issue?

I’ve gone through a few of the cheap bullet backup cameras. I’ve discovered that if they ever get below freezing they die. I figured for $19.00 I could replace them cheaply enough. But now I have a higher quality camera on my shelf waiting for the next failure.
