Default Rear bumper

I was recently gifted an old smittybilt rear bumper from my buddy for free. The reason he gave it to me was because it had a default where the tire carrier would unlatch and it would only be holding on by the safety latch, which rattles pretty loudly. I have 33" tires, so I don't think I need the tire carrier. What would you suggest? Should I buy the smittybilt tire carrier and get the latch fixed? Or just use the bumper without the tire carrier?

From what I've read, your stock tire carrier should hold a 33'' tire easily. It's gotta be better than that stock plastic piece of crap Chrysler gives us. I'd throw it on and rock the stock carrier if it were me. Especially since it's free! If nothing else, take it and sell it to get some cash to put towards something else you may want and buy your friend a beer!
