when you have a rear bumper with a winch, how is the winch mounted? upside down? can you mount a winch upside down? can you mount the solenoid away from the winch?

You can mount an electric winch in any fashion you want, and you can mount the solinoid wherever you want as long as you use the appropriate guage wire to connect everything. The few bumpers out now that do have rear mounts mount upside down. On most winches you can clock the clutch as well to place the lever where you need it.

 

You can also get winch mounts that attach to the towing hich. You attach it when you need it.
